UPDATE PUBLICATIONS 2021/2022
We have updated the Diabeter Research website with a number of publications of studies in which Diabeter, or employees of Diabeter, were involved
DPARD: rationale, design and initial results from the Dutch national diabetes registry. BMC Endocr Disord. 2021 Jun 16;21(1):122.
Publication describing the rationale and first results of the Dutch Pediatric and Adult Registry of Diabetes (DPARD), expecting to include all outpatient diabetes clinics across the Netherlands with data containing diabetes classification of every patient included within 2 years.
The SWEET Project 10-Year Benchmarking in 19 Countries Worldwide Is Associated with Improved HbA1c and Increased Use of Diabetes Technology in Youth with Type 1 Diabetes. 2021 Jul;23(7):491-499.
This paper describes outcomes among 16,082 children and youth (<25 year) with type 1 diabetes between 2008–2010 and 2016–2010 from 22 centers around the world, participating in the 3-year EU Public Health Program ‘SWEET’.
Hypoglycaemia and diabetes-specific quality of life in adolescents with type 1 diabetes. Diabet Med . 2021 Aug;38(8):e14565.
In this study, fear of hypoglycaemia was the only factor independently associated with diabetes-specific quality of life and highlights the importance of awareness and assessment of fear of hypoglycaemia in clinical practice.
Mindfulness in Relation to Diet Quality in Adults with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes: Results from Diabetes MILES
‑The Netherlands. Mindfulness. 2021 Sep;12:2943
–2954
This study showed that dispositional mindfulness (i.e. mindfulness as personal trait rather than a transient state) is associated with a healthier diet in people with type 1 diabetes.
Depression and anxiety in adolescents with type 1 diabetes and their parents. Pediatr Res . 2022 Jan;91(1):188-196.
The authors of this study hypothesized that an association exists between parental emotional distress at baseline and symptoms of anxiety and depression in adolescents with type 1 diabetes, but this association could not be substantiated based on the data.
Prevalence of and risk factors for sexual dysfunctions in adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes: Results from Diabetes MILES -Flanders. Diabet Med . 2022 Jan;39(1):e14676.
Because most studies on sexual dysfunction so far have looked at men or women only, type 1 diabetes or type 2 diabetes only and clinical or psychological factors only, this study aimed to assess all these variables simultaneously and found that about a third of people with diabetes (both type 1 and type 2) reported a sexual dysfunction.
How low is really low? Comparison of two C-peptide assays to establish residual C-peptide production in type 1 diabetes. Diabet Med. 2022 Jan 6;e14785. Online ahead of print.
A comparison of two commercially available C-peptide assays, showing the importance of in-house verification of manufacturer-specified performance of laboratory assays, especially when used for a new indication for which clinically meaningful results are outside of the previously used range.
The bidirectional longitudinal association between depressive symptoms and HbA1c: A systematic review and meta-analysis. Diabet Med . 2022 Feb;39(2):e14671.
This systematic review found a bidirectional association between depression and HbA1c, despite a relatively small number of studies that could be included.
