Koen van Beers joined Diabeter as an internist-endocrinologist in 2023. Previous positions include an endocrinology fellowship at the Amsterdam University Medical Center (Amsterdam UMC), an internal medicine residency at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe Gasthuis (OLVG) hospital in Amsterdam, a position as Senior House Officer at the Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospital (Oranjestad, Aruba), a PhD trajectory at the Amsterdam UMC, and a position as Senior House Officer at the Medical Center Haaglanden (The Hague).  

He has also been a member of the organ donation committee and of the  Value Based Healthcare committee Diabetes Mellitus at the OLVG Hospital.

Research areas of interest include the use of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) in type 1 diabetes care and applying technology to increase efficiency and value in healthcare for both people with diabetes and healthcare providers.
