We are continuing our efforts to develop simple yet robust techniques that can be applied in the clinic or at home to predict the risk of complications:
- Role of glucose variability
By analysing continuous glucose measurement data, using our extensive VCare database, we will investigate the correlation between glucose fluctuations and the development of diabetic complications.
- New non-invasive measurements of vascular damage
Early damage will be measured by new non-invasive techniques such as pulse-wave velocity, 24-hour blood pressure analysis, and heart-rate analysis.
- Biomarkers of damage: the role of microRNA fingerprints
As part of the Biomarker project, we are collecting RNA samples to enable us to investigate the potential value of microRNA analysis.
