We have updated the Diabeter Research website with a number of publications of studies in which Diabeter psychologist Giesje Nefs was involved:
Effectiveness of educational and behavioural interventions for reducing fear of hypoglycaemia among adults with type 1 diabetes: Systematic review and meta- analyses. Diabet Med. 2023 Feb 17;e15071.
Systematic review and meta-analysis investigating the effectiveness of interventions aimed at reducing fear of hypoglycemia, showing that overall fear of hypoglycemia is relatively low.
Flourishing mental health and lifestyle behaviours in adults with Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: results from the Diabetes MILES – The Netherlands Study. Diabetes Care. J Psychosom Res. 2022 Sep;160:110950.
This paper describes the interaction between mental health and lifestyle behaviours in people with diabetes (both type 1 and type 2), concluding that positive mental health is more important for certain lifestyle behaviours than for others.

Study on the effect of artificially induced hypoglycemia (hypoglycemic glucose clamps) on cognitive function. Cognition decreased regardless of (type of) diabetes, awareness status, glycemic control or duration.
